An educator in the field, she has written widely in books, newspapers and design magazines. Her organic building designs are admired for being sensory and poetic. Anita’s other identity is that of a performing artist in Hindustani vocal music, and of Director of Dance-Theatre genre stage musicals, her long training in music shaping it in concept and Architecture enabling her a unique 3-D vision of music. A rare blend of skills in Fine and Performing arts, Anita sees art as powerful aesthetic expression and a connection with the divine. Fine artistic elements from World traditions are often blended in her productions. “I believe in the transformative power of arts! Somewhere along my creative explorations the lines between arts diffused. Music, dance, painting, language … all share their auras now, architecture inspiring everything. The joy has been immense and uplifting, and I want to share it with my people. India, a civilization 5000 years old is an extraordinary treasure trove of arts – beautiful, therapeutic, and spiritual. I try to design my work to draw people into the experience of art, history, tradition and culture, making it immersive and unforgettable!” – Anita Kulkarni

Inspirations

The Ancient Indian music-dance wisdom was born in devotion and surrender. A supremely evolved existence of man! These arts, however, are often perceived as abstract and remote and there is a lack of interest or taste for them in society. Many of us, unaware and ignorant about our heritage, are deprived of the beauty, joy and meditation therein. The Renu mission was inspired in this sense, further endorsed by a survey that we conducted. From the humble beginnings operated by one person we now have bootstrapped our way to international prominence, presenting artistic work at top World venues in a style that is friendly and immersive.

Mission

Renu Foundation is a public benefit and charitable organization established to promote and conduct activities in Indian arts and architecture. We are committed to take Indian arts to all layers of society via uniquely designed modules of education and workshops, high-quality performances, and other programs under the leadership of accomplished artists. We want to make art accessible to all towards a lasting impact, elevating the public taste and bridging the gaps by connecting people to their legacies. To novices, our art appreciation workshops provide a window into the art form to explore it in a warm and inviting setting. To connoisseurs and the initiated, we provide a place for thought stimulation and advancement. Our theatre productions, known to create a spellbinding experience for the viewer, allow artists to push their boundaries and perform at their maximum potential.
